This is my fourth time with the group and I am excited to bring you a super simple recipe that would be a great addition to your holiday appetizers. Just in case you don't know what Freaky Friday is, I'll tell you. It all started with Michaela of An Affair From The Heart. Mom's Pattaconk Chili

Mom's Pattaconk Chili ~ a blend of beef, tomatoes and spices that tastes so good you'll want a second bowl. What seems like a life time ago, my mother and step father owned a small tavern in the small town of Chester, Connecticut. Some of my readers may recall me mentioning that a time or two here at Cooking On A Budget. The tavern was then called The Pattaconk Inn and now is re-named to The Pattaconk 1850 Bar and Grille. My mother's role in the business was chief cook and bottle washer as well as record keeper. Local folks came to love my mother's hot daily specials and certainly loved it when she made her chili recipe. Read more »

Fresh Strawberry Morning Spread

Fresh Strawberries with very little sugar added, cooked and mashed becomes a wonderful breakfast spread. The simple fact is I love, love breakfast but not early in the morning. In order for me to eat correctly I have to eat a little something to fuel my furnace. With some on sale strawberries that were GORGEOUS, I decided to make a quick sort of jam and ended up calling it Fresh Strawberry Morning Spread. Read more »
